Summer Ball/Prom Guide: What To Wear

So recently I have been to a couple of posh do's and have had to get all dressed up, which of course I love. BUT I definitely hadn't given enough thought or time to what I was going to wear as (stupidly) I decided to come back up to uni on the train and had a VERY limited wardrobe to choose from. My clothes have all arrived again now though, thanks mum, so this won't be a problem again. I have another ball to look forward to in a couple of weeks so I'm now looking for an outfit for this. Obviously I'm not the only one in this situation at the moment so I thought I'd put together a little guide for all your summer ball/prom needs!

#1 Jumpsuit
So starting off in the most obvious place, the outfit! I am absolutely obsessed with jumpsuits - I can't get enough of them and so will most definitely be looking for one for my summer ball. I thought floral number from misguided was really cute and very summery. I love misguided, they have a great selection of clothes for very reasonable prices... plus there always seems to be a chocolate in the parcels when they arrive - not complaining!

#2 Dress
I loveeee the blue colour on this dress and I just think it's really pretty, it stands out and it's also nice and classy. What more could you ask for? This one is a little pricey but if you're looking for somehting special it's available on asos.

#3 Playsuit
Another option, and another one of my obsessions - the playsuit. Also from misguided and only £17.99, this simple black playsuit could be dressed up or down. I think you'd be able to get quite a lot of use out of it after the event which is nice. It's a lovely shape and I really like the metallic belt. Paired with some nice shoes and a statement bag this could be a winner.

#4&5 Ted Baker Bags
So I was really going all out on my wishlist here, these Ted Baker bags are gorgeous and great to put with something simple. Check them out here: 4 & 5.

#6&7 Boohoo Bags
Cheaper alternatives and still great, stand out bags these are from boohoo. I love these again to accompany quite simple outfits they really draw attention - for all the right reasons. Take a look here: 6 & 7.

#8 Wedges
If your summer ball/prom is anything like mine you are going to be standing on your feet for a LONG TIME. In order for you to really get your groove on to maximum potential you're going to want to have comfy feet. So wedges or heals that you know won't let you down are a good option. These lacy ones are from asos.

#9&10 Heals
I don't know why I don't own shoes like this yet, I love them. Every time I'm out I see someone wearing them and they just look so good! Normally I would go for black but I thought these green ones are great and again if you have a plain outfit they could spice it up for you. Both zara - loveee.

#11 A Touch of Tan
My beloved Fake Bake, have a read up here on what I think of this product. It is just so great for giving a light covering/summer glow look. I've always had the spray tan version of this product, but I have just bought one to do at home so I'll let you know how it goes!

# 12 Summer Lips
Finally topping off your ball look with some bright, summery lipsticks! I love these orangey colours from Mac and you can check out the whole collection here!

Have you got an event coming up? Or spotted any great summer looks? I'd love any outfit recommendations so let me know in the comments below!
p.s the nominations are currently open for the #CosmoBlogAwards, if you like our blog we would love it if you'd nominate us for the next newcomer award  here
