I ♥ Croatia - Korcula & Ending In Luxury In Dubrovnik

This post has been incredibly delayed, so delayed that you would be forgiven for thinking that it was never coming. Sorry about that. BUT it is here now and we're about to share a whole lot of Croatian beauty and luxury with you. Believe me this place is worth a visit and hopefully the post will have been worth the wait too.

Writing this is making me miss every minute of the trip and there couldn't have been a more perfect place or way to end it. Croatia is beautiful; the water is clear, the towns are beautiful with cobbled streets and something hidden behind every corner and the scenery is breathtaking.

Hvar - Boat Trips, Sunsets And Bars

Throughout our trip people have been absolutely raving about Hvar to us, but it has been such a variety of people, from an elderly lady on the train saying how beautiful it is to groups of young people dubbing it a party island. It was really hard to picture how this all fit together we had conjured up images of this woman in Ibiza and it just wasn't working! But as we arrived all our questions were answered..

Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes and Split!

Zagreb, Plitvice National Park and Split was done in our whistle-stop tour tradition, but this time cramming in 3 places into 48 hours. As all three are pretty big locations when people travel to Croatia it was only fair we did them all. Read more...

Budapest: Sziget Festival, Bastille and The Baths

The long awaited stop on our trip arrived. We had heard so much good stuff about Budapest's nightlife, young people and the warm baths. With this in mind we stayed for a well-needed 3 night stay so we could explore more and not have to cram everything into a day. Find out what we got up to...

Vienna: Culture & Karaoke

Day 1:
As always, we arrived in Vienna quite late and so quickly dropped our things off at the hostel and went on a hunt for food. This turned out to be harder to find than imagined as lots of places were closed because they were all on holiday too! After a short walk we ended up in a little restaurant where we couldn't decide if the decor was intentionally factory like or just in the middle of a renovation... either way the burgers were amazing and huge and it was exactly what we needed.

We then headed back to the hostel where we met a guy called Andy who had decided to travel a bit after a stag do. Looking all sad alone at the bar we invited him to come and do karaoke with us... turns out Andy was kind of a karaoke queen!

Klagenfurt

Having arrived late because we missed our bus (oops!) we decided to just go out for a nice meal and then plan our next day wisely as we were supposed to be leaving just after lunch and wanted to make the most of our time.

The food here was great and cheaper than in previous locations, we ate near the university in one of the local pizzerias which had a really cool ski cabin type feel to it. We stayed at the All You Need hotel and even though it didn't have ALL we needed (somewhere we could upload our photos from the camera!) it was a really great hotel with comfy beds, the biggest showers and breakfast included, yum.

Venice: Gondolas and the Biennale

For a city known for its charm, authenticity and picturesque streets, Venice did not disappoint. We took a water bus to our hostel around late afternoon and before we had the chance to unpack or step foot in the hostel we were welcomed with this beautiful scenery. Directly across from the hostel we could see the edge of the square where the main sites are situated.

And Now For Italy... First Stop Milan!

Milan Day 1

Our next stop was Milan! We were so excited to be heading to Italy as there would be considerably more sun and hopefully more fun. Our hostel Ostello Bello was a short work from the main square that situated the Duomo cathedral. The location was perfect and the hostel was amazing. We arrived and were met with 5 friendly roommates, then headed downstairs just in time for (free!) dinner.

Geneva: The Fete, Lake and Posh Parties

Day 1

We arrived in Geneva around 6pm after a 4 and a half hour train journey from Marseille. This was pretty good timing to get ourselves to the hotel before going out to dinner. In true traveller style we got ourselves lost trying to find it, but soon enough we were relaxing in our comfortable room at the NH Rex hotel. With a 4* rating, it's not the usual place you'd expect to be staying on an interrail trip but the city had barely any hostels and they were all the same price as hotels too. So we did a "mystery hotel" option on lastminute.com which was just too exciting an oppurtunity to miss... Plus we got a great hotel at a bargain price!

First Stop Marseille!

Day 1

After our long travel day the day before and only getting into the hotel at near midnight, it's fair to say we discounted that evening. When we arrived the hotel receptionist welcomed us with a glass of wine (who doesn't want that!) and we chatted about our plans for the next day. Our room in 'Hotel Carre Vieux-Port' was nice and clean, although the hotel was having other floors renovated nothing disturbed us. Having already looked up on trip advisor the main attractions, we knew the Parc des Calanques was the number one attraction. Reviews had told is that the best calanque was calanque des sugiton and was only reachable after an hour long hike. Being lazy and not really fancying a hike on our first day we were going to opt for one of the easier ones but Pierre (the receptionist.. I know typical french name) offered to take us with him and his girlfriend to Sugiton as he insisted it was worth the hike.

Portugal, Parasailing and Perfect Weather!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently life has been very busy and I have been very useless at documenting it! But we do have lots of excitement coming up as we'll be blogging our interrailing trip around Europe - yay! More on that in a bit but firstly a couple of weeks ago now I had a LOVELY relaxing holiday in Portugal and so I thought I would do a little post about it. This is actually the second time I've been to Portugal... and not only to Portugal but to the same resort, same hotel and with the same people. One evening we were reminiscing over all the fun we had had the last time we went, wind forward five minutes we'd been on Expedia, found a great deal and booked it. RISKY MOVE. There is always the worry when you've been somewhere before that it won't live up to your expectations/ memories but thankfully this was not at all the case with Albufeira. I actually can't recommend the place enough so here's a post on all the great things that we did this time and what the area has to offer. Read more...

Now I promise you that I'm not currently camping out in the grounds and the next post won't be at the Stadium... but this one is - what you gonna do? This time it wasn't for football or a concert but an art exhibition. Read more...

One Direction Where We Are Tour - Concert Review

SO this weekend was very exciting. I went to go and watch One Direction... with my mum - it was great. We seemed to be the oldest combination of people there - oldest and proud! We went all out with matching 1D t-shirts, some pretty groovy dance moves and a massive banner to wave. (Ok the banner wasn't actually ours but we waved it all the same). Read more...

Springer FC: Charity Football Tournament At Manchester City

So this post is a little late because I have been pretty busy with exams and finishing up uni but the other day I headed over to the Manchester City stadium to watch the fam have a kick about on the pitch for charity. After weeks of listening to the preparation of who was going to play where it was finally time for my dad to live out his dream of being a footballer. Now I'm not a massive football fan but this was a really great day out so I thought I would share some photos and a little video with you. Read more...

Summer Fitness Events: Exciting Gym Alternatives

I know many of us are slaving away for that perfect beach body but it is important to remember that exercise isn't just a quick fix or an act of torture. Whilst most people swear by the gym, health isn't only measured by what you do on cardio machines or with weights, it is about your lifestyle as a whole. So with summer approaching, let's hope for some great weather so we can all get out in the sunshine and bring back the fun to fitness. It is easy to think exercise events are purely for the competitive type but I want you to be aware of the unique, fun events that are on offer too...

MAY & JUNE Event Ideas: Ascot, Lovebox, Zoo Lates and more Pre-Summer Fun

Have you finished your exams/handed all your deadlines in? Perhaps you're counting down the days until your holiday or looking for a way to fill up time between holidays (if you're lucky to be going away more than once)? The months of May and June become that funny time between finishing uni work and beginning summer, except it isn't quite summer just yet. I love to have plans to look forward to and as much as I can't wait to go on holiday, it's time to get those countdown days filled too...

Summer Ball/Prom Guide: What To Wear

So recently I have been to a couple of posh do's and have had to get all dressed up, which of course I love. BUT I definitely hadn't given enough thought or time to what I was going to wear as (stupidly) I decided to come back up to uni on the train and had a VERY limited wardrobe to choose from. My clothes have all arrived again now though, thanks mum, so this won't be a problem again. I have another ball to look forward to in a couple of weeks so I'm now looking for an outfit for this. Obviously I'm not the only one in this situation at the moment so I thought I'd put together a little guide for all your summer ball/prom needs!

Time Machine - An Exhibition That Can't Be Ignored

Bold, bright and seeping into every area of the gallery - Time Machine is an exhibition that can't be ignored.

Joana Vasconcelos has created a range of really interesting works that spread themselves throughout the gallery, both interacting and contrasting with their environment. The work takes over the space creeping into almost every room. Initially starting off with the occasional piece that you might identify as looking slightly out of place, and then as you move closer to the main exhibit of Joana's work you become surrounded by a vast display of her pieces. This really is one of the most engaging exhibitions I have seen in a long while. Read more...

Options After University - What Now?

It has reached that time of the year where all final year students, like myself, are either super prepared and organised and have their whole life planned out, or, like myself, don't.

If you're not sure what you want to do next year - don't panic! There are lots of different routes you could take and this is what makes it so difficult to decide, but hopefully this little blog post will help you figure it all out. Here we go...

SUMMER 2014: Top 3 Student Travelling Adventures

So summer is fast approaching and as students we're trying to think of exciting ways to spend the months off uni that we are lucky enough to have. Some of you may have work or work experience lined up but if you're thinking of doing some travelling, now is the time to get planning. I can't stress enough how much you should make the most of this time and go exploring. Once in employment you won't have as big an opportunity as this one. Whilst I'm trying to figure out my summer plans I thought I'd take you through a few of the popular trips people my age tend to take. Do Thailand, Europe or Australia/New Zealand sound appealing? Gym Wear Essentials: From Victoria Secret to H&M!

So since we've been trying out new classes (read our workout Wednesday posts here) I've been really inspired to exercise and taking it seriously means getting a set of nice gym gear. Obviously you don't need all these things to work out, you can throw on any old thing but it certainly helps! I've tried to incorporate several different shops and price ranges as there are so many alternatives out there. Maybe investing in some fresh workout clothing will motivate you? And even if little exercise is being done at least you'll look good! Check out some things I've had my eye on...

The Selfie: Ellen's Infamous Tweet, #nomakeupselfie and Why The Selfie Is Here To Stay

Whilst I hate the word selfie, you can't deny how taking a photo of yourself is trending everywhere. You can't escape the selfie on any social media outlet nowadays; Facebook's #nomakeupselfie trend, Youtube's recently popular 'Let me take a selfie' song by The Chainsmokers, Twitter's most retweeted tweet being Ellen's Oscars selfie and Snapchat's... Well everything about snapchat is for selfie lovers. Even the Oxford Dictionary has added the word to its books. The general consensus seems to be, if you can't beat them join them. Everyone Should Be In At Least One Musical | The Highlight Of My Week And Why You Should Join In!

My head is so full of all things dissertation at the moment (less than a week to go) that unless you want to hear all about the different presentations of Jackson Pollock, (which lets face it, you probably don’t) I’ve not got much else to offer in terms of inspiring blog posts at the moment! In fact, the most exciting thing that has happened to me in the last few days is that I’ve changed my juice from orange squash to summer fruits. Good decision by the way.

BUT there has been one thing that has really made me smile so I thought I would share that with you read more....

Pancake Day-te: A Fun Date Night Idea

So I've never really been keen on making pancakes but I do love them! And obviously with pancake day a few weeks ago it meant cracking out the recipe book and having a go myself. It is honestly one of the easiest things to make whether like like the thick american stacks (check out the Breakfast Club post here for more of these) or the light, rolled up crepes. Ever since I have been craving them, so read on to see why pancakes aren't just for Pancake Day...

Is There Any Point? Martin Creed at the Southbank Centre - Exhibition Review

Martin Creed is a minimalist artist whose works have provoked controversial responses throughout his career yet are always surprising and never fail to provide entertainment. Whether entertainment comes from the intentions of his works or from the fact he is willing to call a stack of chairs art, his work remains shameless and engaging. But is there really any academic essence, or any point at all in fact, that art students like myself can take from this? Or should we be offended that he has the audacity to stick blue tack on the gallery wall and give it a work title and place in the guidebook? Read on to find out more about the exhibition...

Cinemas: The Cheap, Cheerful And Just Incredibly Cool

Recently I've been visiting the cinema a lot more than usual, but this time instead of it being the film choices that tempted me in it was actually the cinemas that I really wanted to see! The Breakfast Club: Restaurant Review

I'd only just come across the breakfast club when hunting down pancake day ideas on Time Out. It's a really popular chain of restaurants, first started in soho, which was evident when there was a queue of 15 outside at 1pm on a Monday! When coincidentally Hannah suggested we go, I couldn't wait! She highly recommended their food and having been to their other chains, absolutely loves it! Having seen pictures of their pancakes online I already loved it before we even left the house. And I was not disappointed...

5 Advantages of 'Me' Time: Relax, being alone really isn't that bad

Everyone needs a bit of me time. Whether that’s a relaxing bath, going for a run or even a
spring clean of your wardrobe, spending time on yourself is important. Life doesn’t need to feel like one never-ending to do list. With the chaos of everyday life, it is easy to forget how valuable winding down can be. As someone who prefers to be with people all times of the day, I feel like I'm missing out when I find myself alone at home with nothing to do. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing! The Art Exhibition That Every Blogger Should See: Digital Zoo

Why? Well because this could be your bedroom...

Ok so we both know this isn't actually your bedroom, unless you're the Canadian girl called Kay who the artist based it on, BUT it could just as easily be yours! Liz Sterry, the artist, followed Kay's blog for three months and having never met Kay she was able to recreate an exact copy of her bedroom based on selfie's and all the information she had put up online. Now Kay's bedroom is touring around Britain, and is currently in a shopping centre in Leeds. Creepy!

The Ice Cube Leeds: Get Your Skates On!

Since I went to watch the synchro skating over christmas (which you can read about here) I have been wanting to get my skates back on and hit the ice, so when I saw the outdoor rink was up in Leeds I couldn't wait for the chance to give it a go, and that chance finally came on saturday- yay!

After having built up how excited I was, and potentially having slightly over played my previous skating experience, I spent the walk to the rink reeling off all my excuses to my friend as to why when we got there I was actually going to be rubbish. The classics are the best... the boots they provide at these places are awful, and I haven't skated in SOOO long (both true by the way, of course).

It worked, he didn't expect much and I met those low expectations.
In fact, we ended up looking a little bit like this...
